Bellator 158: “London” takes place at O2 Arena in London, England, on July 16, 2016. The Spike TV-televised event was supposed to feature a rematch between James Thompson and Kimbo Slice until the untimely passing of the latter, as well as the promotional debut of Josh Koscheck that wasn’t meant to be.
Indeed, tragedies and injuries have put Bellator 158 in-flux.
However, things have started to come together in the last few weeks with Paul “Semtex'”Daley vs. Douglas Lima announced to headline the show in a critical bout for the Welterweight division, as well as a co-main event between Michael “Venom” Page vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.
In addition, the Bellator 158 main card will also showcase a teammate of Conor McGregor — 19-year-old James Gallagher — who trains with UFC’s Featherweight champion at Straight Blast Gym in Ireland. Although he’s fairly young in his career (not to mention age), Gallagher has amassed a 3-0 record as a professional.
The pressure will be on for Gallagher as he makes his Bellator debut on the main card against Mike Cutting (6-5), whose mediocre record belies the fact he has more than three times as much professional experience. Either way it should be a fun scrap.
